ode to a poet

yeterday i was at the butler's blog. he has blogger's block and i replied with a play on an emily dickinson poem that i couldn't quite remember. i too have been having blogger's block so i feel for him.

it's not the only place where i'm feeling blogger's block; i haven't spent anytime on my book for what feels like months now.

i learned in college that in order to be a good writer you also have to be a good reader so i thought i would post some of my favorite classic poems and wait for some inspiration.

feel free to assume yourselves tagged and post some poems of your own.

by Emily Dickinson

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us — don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

A rose is a rose is a rose

When I am Dead, My Dearest

by Christina Rossetti

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

God's peace y'all

I met some people tonight who know you. I am singing a wedding at the Lutheran Chuch in Egg Harbor. The Pastor is named Pauline, and the organist is Wendy DeRose. Just thought I'd let you know, and that they both said hello.

Thanks for this post. I tend to forget how much I enjoy a poem and poetry. Your post will make me reach out and read some old friends and make some new friends among the poets in our world.

You're one of them!
